About Ian Murphy
One of three of Ned Murphy’s sons, Ian Murphy grew up around Massey Ferguson Tractors and it would be hard to beat his knowledge and expertise when it comes to these powerful workhorses. Ian started his career in the Irish Defence Forces before joining the family business in 2018. This time period saw Ned Murphy Tractors Ltd. starting to expand and Ian came on board to help grow the sale of OEM and Economic Parts. This includes sourcing quality suppliers for parts along with the research and development of parts that would be in demand but may not be available anymore from AGCO/Massey Ferguson. Ian is also on hand for over the phone parts sales, often helping customers to identify issues with their tractors and the parts required to fix the problem.

Remote hydraulics are one of the most useful systems on a Massey Ferguson tractor. They run tipping trailers, loaders, log splitters, wrappers, mowers, hedge cutters and many other implements. So when the spool valves become slow, weak or completely [...]
If you have ever typed a Massey Ferguson part number into a search box and found a different number coming back, you are not alone. It is one of the most common frustrations in agricultural parts ordering. A number [...]
If your Massey Ferguson has developed a rough idle, uneven revs, or “hunting” at low speed, the problem is often on the fuel supply side rather than in the injectors themselves. Diesel fuel systems depend on a steady, clean, [...]
If your Massey Ferguson has developed a new whine, growl, knock, or rumble from the rear axle, the two most common driveline suspects are the differential and the final drive. They are often confused because both sit in the [...]
If your Massey Ferguson tractor won’t start—especially if it clicks or won’t crank—the problem is usually electrical, not mysterious. In most cases, the starter motor simply isn’t getting enough voltage under load or enough current because of corrosion, loose [...]
If you’ve ever searched “ferguson 3 point hitch”, “ferguson 3 point linkage”, or “ferguson three point hitch”, you already know the three-point system is the backbone of modern implement compatibility. Developed by Harry Ferguson in the early 20th century, [...]
Keeping on top of Massey Ferguson service doesn’t have to mean complicated routines or big “service weekends.” The easiest way to reduce breakdowns is to plan Massey Ferguson tractor service around what the machine faces during the year: spring [...]
Owners of Massey Ferguson 300, 500, 600, 3000, 3100, 3600, 4200 and 4300 series tractors are in a sweet spot: you’ve got serious workhorses with decent electrics, but they’re now old enough that charging problems, brittle wiring and tired [...]
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), known as AdBlue in Europe, is standard on modern Massey Ferguson tractors to meet Stage V/Tier 4 emissions. When the system is healthy, you get cleaner exhaust, better fuel economy and fewer regen issues. When [...]
When it comes to keeping your Massey Ferguson in top working order, few components are more important than your braking system. Understanding whether your tractor has wet or dry disc brakes can save time, prevent expensive wear, and ensure [...]
Older and mid-range Massey Ferguson tractors are built to last, but time, vibration, and heat eventually take their toll on gaskets and seals. Even a small drip under the sump can attract dust, contaminate clutches, and waste valuable oil. [...]
When you own a Massey Ferguson tractor, seasonal maintenance isn’t just a suggestion — it’s the secret to extending your machine’s life, improving performance, and avoiding costly downtime. While your tractor is built to be robust and reliable, spring [...]
