A GUIDE TO KNOWING WHICH TYPE OF TRACTOR PART TO PURCHASE

When it comes to purchasing parts to fix or maintain your Massey Ferguson Tractor there are several factors and options to consider before making your purchase. Much of the time you will have the option to purchase, new, new alternative or second-hand parts. What you choose to buy may depend on how quick you need the part, how much you are able to spend and other important factors. At NMT Group, we supply a large range of new, alternative and second-hand parts for you to choose from. To help you out we’ve created a guide to assist you in making your decision. Furthermore when looking at parts on our website, the below options are what will be displayed.

New Genuine (G) OEM Parts

New or Genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), are parts that are made by the original manufacturer of the tractor. These parts come in a new and unused condition and would be consistent with the fit of your tractor and made for optimal use. In terms of cost, New Genuine OEM parts would be the most expensive option, but they are covered by a warranty from the manufacturer. Another thing to consider with new parts is that they may take longer to be delivered to you and they may be hard to source or not available for older model tractors.

We sell Genuine OEM parts at NMT Group.

Alternative  (E)

Alternative parts are also new parts, but they are made by companies that are not the original manufacturer. Alternative parts are designed to look and work the same as Genuine parts but as they are not made by the original manufacturer, the fit and effectiveness may not be the same as a Genuine OEM part. The benefits of Alternative parts are that they are more widely available and less costly than the Genuine OEM parts. Alternative parts are also known as Aftermarket Parts for more higher-end manufactured parts.

We sell Alternative parts at NMT Group.

Second-Hand Parts (S)

Second-Hand parts are parts that have been taken from often salvaged or dismantled Tractors. Second-hand parts are the most cost-effective option and are good for quick fix solutions for your tractor. Second-hand parts are also a good option if you’re finding it hard to source a new part for an older model tractor. On the other-hand, longevity and wear and tear damage may need to be considered when purchasing a second-hand part.

We sell Second-Hand parts at NMT Group and offer a 3-month warranty on these parts.

Reconditioned Parts (R)

Another option to consider for certain Massey Ferguson Tractor parts are reconditioned parts. These are damaged or used parts that have been restored to a functional state. Reconditioned parts are thoroughly maintained, going through a process of cleaning, repair and testing so that they meet the manufacturer’s specifications. Gearboxes, pumps and Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are parts that tend to be the most reconditioned parts available.

At NMT Group, a surcharge will apply for reconditioned parts purchased along with a request to have your original parts sent to us in exchange for the recondition parts.

Reconditioned parts are a good option to consider if cost is a deciding factor for you or if you are looking for a part for an older model tractor and new parts are hard to source.  Always make sure to source your reconditioned part from a trusted supplier and make sure that it is compatible with your tractor model and tier.

Know what Model and Tier your Tractor is before Buying

One of the most essential elements to consider when purchasing tractor parts is to know exactly what model and tier your tractor is. Parts are oftentimes specifically made for tractor models and tiers and won’t fit other tractor types. If parts are incorrect, this may lead to you having to return parts and subsequently this leads to delays in getting your tractor up and running again. If you are not sure about what part you may need, it is always worth your while to consult an accredited mechanic before making your purchase. Having your tractor Serial number is also advised when you’re trying to get the correct replacement parts.
